Located in the Premium Southern Valley Sub region of the Wairau Plains in Marlborough, New Zealand.
Rusty Bell Wines have a very simple and honest approach to their craft, to honour the land from which they grow some of the finest Sauvignon Blanc vines in the country and reflect its long history from dairy farming to wine making. A fertile landscape that has sustained and nourished those privileged enough to work and live here, generation after generation.
We chose our vineyard on Bells Road because of its amazing wine growing qualities and its superb location within New Zealand’s best Sauvignon Blanc country. We have carefully selected half a hectare of the vineyard to pamper in order to grow the best quality Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc grapes to produce our wine. The grapes are cane pruned and are sustainably grown within the Sustainable Wines framework (SWNZ). Our viticulture practices include hand leaf removal and crop thinning to obtain fruit ripeness, balance and intensity of flavours.
Our grapes are hand harvested and then promptly transported to the winery only a few kilometres away.
" Each year we will produce the best quality grapes we can amending our vineyard practices, such as yield levels and canopy management, to ensure what arrives at the winery is as good as it can be. "
